Over a time outer planet begin to move slowly away from sun throwing gravitational force of solar system off balance.
this cause several early planets to be thrown into deep space and around 4 million years ago remain debris was pelted against planet this period known as 'late heavy bombardment' left Behind crater/scare an still on faves of moon,mars and other rocky planets.

when comet crashed into surface of early planet water did not boil off immediately but instead formed vast ocean.
after hundred of million of year planet had settle into their orbit and began to grow and evolve.
